Mathematical Paleontology

The Formula’s in the textbook have been there so long that they begin to calcify and nobody dares to question them. Eg. When was the last time you heard anyone question the law of conservation of Energy? In the Two Capacitor Problem 1/2 a charge goes missing, so why do we not say “The Principle of Conservation of Energy has an Applicable Domain?”. Think of the commercial implications if we could find it’s reciprocal (assuming it is symmetrical).

Most modern technology is based on variations on a theme and reproduction of verbatim processes. Very little creativity goes into developing radically new technologies. Eg. How many trillion of wheels have been produced without knowing how to exploit their gyroscopic properties? It is not enough to simply learn to do what one is told!
